PRODUCTION PROCESS:

For Geralt of Rivia, I chose a popular custom Henry Cavill sculpt that is highly praised by Andrew Aitcheson of Keyboard Warriors in being a vast improvement to the Hot Toys Superman sculpt. Video review: Custom Justice League Superman Headsculpt Review. Besides a superior resemblance to Cavill, it expresses a softer kinder facial expression that is Geralt-typical for much of The Witcher series runtime. With the paint application and eyebrow hair, I tried capturing an expression both stern and kind in equal measure.

Each PVC sculpt was carved to the shape of Henry Cavill's actual head using reference photos of when he was shaven - a detail too often neglected in this art. In order to avoid the common mistake among artists of ‘over-packing’ in the hair rooting process, I apply a hybrid method that helps to retain the original alignment of the lamb fur and leave space between the hairs at the root. Shadows cast between the strands add to realism. Something unique to this piece is the stubble effect achieved using powdered lamb fur.

ADDITIONAL ITEMS:

Business Card / Certificate of Authenticity stamped with my family name in Kanji letters. A custom-made Mahogany wood stand inside a glass canister with stainless steel lid / base from Japanese brand DAISO (as seen in photo). For transportation purposes, the canister will be double packaged within a solid steel can (DAISO) as protective casing for the canister. The inner dimension of can is a match to the canister for a tight fit that will help firmly secure the glass. Bubble rap both inside and outside can will insure that neither the glass canister or product within is damaged prior to arrival to your doorstep.

BODY AND CLOTHING NOT INCLUDED.

BODY RECOMMENDATION: Ganghood Muscular Body 0.1

Both musculature and skin tone of the Ganghood 0.1 is a perfect match to Henry Cavill. As for a Phicen, its M33 silicone body is an equal match while the M34 is a bit too large.

OUTFIT RECOMMENDATION: GeeWiz Customs. Item - Geralt's Undergarment

CAUTIONARY TIPS:

CAUTION: The glue between the wood and the plastic of the base will not hold if head is pulled while gripping the lower base. To remove head from it's stand, pinch the head by the ears (avoid hair) while pinching only the wooden rod with the other hand and pull. The same action applies to the removal of the neck peg which might remain on the rod. Do not pull at hairs, particularly those along the facial hair line. Do not use a comb - its same as pulling when hair is caught in the bristles. Do not touch the chin stubble hair with bare fingers or it will slightly darken in color by the natural oils our fingers produce.

HAIR STYLE TIPS:

In order to style the hair, use a soft fine-tipped paint brush. Wet tip with water (do not soak) and run it in the direction you want the hair to bend, like over neck and shoulders.

A mild hair wax has been applied to keep hair style in place during transport. If the style result is too slick for your liking, here’s a tip to achieve a more screen-accurate ‘shaggy’ look for Geralt. In running a finger tip over the dome, from hair-tie toward his hair line, strands of hair will be released from the hair tie’s grip. Just a few of the single strands when dangling loosely over the front and sides will nicely improve visual authenticity. But be careful not to release too many single strands. Placing the longer strands back into its original hair-tied position is virtually impossible without a complete hairdo re-do.

To achieve a ‘shaggy’ look on the styling wax-held side bangs, gently partition them with a sewing needle from near root area to tip. If there's resistance, do not pull. Change to an alternate area and gently stroke with needle until separation occurs. This action will release single hair strands that will dangle in a more naturalistic manner. Releasing hair from the styling wax will revert single strands back to its original curl, which is also more screen-accurate to the Geralt character. Since partitioning will create more volume of hair, you may wish to slick back the excess with a wet brush toward the hair-tie point.
